Take a Peek…New from Ebling

The Ebling Library website will be changing soon – our first major redesign since 2011! We’ll be moving to a version of the UW campus WordPress theme, like so many other Schools and Departments.

The beta version of the site is here. Tell us what you think, whether you’d like to be part of a user group, how we can continue to improve. Even before the launch in early June, drop us a line: eblingweb@hsl.wisc.edu. Some sections of the site may still transition through the summer, but the bulk of what you need is easily available from the home page.

Other than the overall look, major changes include:

1) Search or browse journals using the BrowZine built in medical taxonomy

2) When possible, links to full text from PubMed will bypass the extra step of selecting a source using LibKey

3) Subject guides have been integrated into the campus guides system for consistency and discoverability

4) This will also be the end of our separate mobile website, now that we’ll have a new, responsive design

5) The Campus Events Calendar will be available and the NEWS and images throughout the site will be enhanced.

Ebling staff would like to thank our beloved colleague, Rebecca Holz for her early work on our completely hand-crafted, home-grown site and Allan Barclay for his previous work with Rebecca and his current attention to this fully WordPress-driven version. We are excited to share it with you all. Again, let us know what you think. Contact us at: eblingweb@hsl.wisc.edu
